It’s about time someone has to come to their senses about Math and teaching it. There are too many smart and creative people out there that are “math challenged” and facing limitations because they cannot jump through the math hoops required for degrees that don’t even entail mathematics. What a shame! I don’t think it’s the subject of Math per se but the way it is presented (boring, irrelevant, and tedious). Your ideas make so much sense. And, I hope they make the quantum leap into Math education soon!! For us old timers, it’s too late but for the young ones, there is hope!
